Want to really know about KCS? Then, we would suggest you schedule a tour because the loving family atmosphere is one of the things that sets this school apart.
Knoxville Christian School, which serves Pre-K3 through 12th grade began over 30 years ago with a generous gift of 67 acres from the Paul Shirley family just north of the Campbell Station exit off I-40. KCS is the oldest private school in Farragut, and we strive for KCS to be an “affordable, values-oriented, non-denominational private school.” KCS is dually accredited by AdvancED which was once known as the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and National Christian School Association (NCSA).
One of my favorite things about the setting of KCS is that we sit up on a hill where we get to see God’s artwork every morning through the beautiful sunrise. Although we are nested away on a hill surrounded by 67 acres, we are just minutes from Turkey Creek (a large shopping community), many parks, and the University of Tennessee.
Our enrollment averages 200 students from Knoxville, surrounding counties, and internationally. This makes our student population unique. We have students with a variety of backgrounds in languages, educational experiences, athletic ability, musical and artistic talents, and beliefs. One thing that students comment on at KCS is that everyone is friendly and supportive. Our students will tell you that they have more than one person on our campus that is a mentor.
Our motto is “Our standard is the LORD JESUS CHRIST,” and we strive daily to put on our Armor to become the KNIGHT Christ calls each one of us to be. This is why the knight is the school mascot. We want our students to understand that the role of the Knight was to spread goodness and to protect. We use the acrostic of KNIGHTS as we attempt to teach our students to live Godly lives.
As families we work with our own children to be well rounded. KCS’s role is to work with Church, home, and school to develop students who are academically prepared to meet the world while keeping their minds and hearts centered on their Lord and Savior. Students from KCS attend such colleges as VMI, UT, Lipscomb, Harding, Freed, and Maryville. They score above the national average on the ACT, and they are prepared for a changing workforce.
If you have not visited Knoxville Christian School in the last few years, we would suggest you do this today. You will see new buildings, new faculty and staff, and continual progress. The transformation is dramatic!
